Do you ever feel like everyone else is doing something that you could be doing? Because I feel that way. I woke up one day and realized, everyone else is doing it. Being crafty, that is. I’m not exactly the most creative teacher on the hallway, I’ve never sewn anything, and I can barely draw a stick figure. Both of my sisters are incredibly talented with their photography and create beautiful portraits. Whitney loves to cook and makes much of their food from scratch. Seriously, from scratch. She once told me that her husband took a completely homemade pb & j sandwich for lunch. Homemade bread. Homemade peanut butter. Homemade jelly. And Beverly is a phenomenal decorator (you should see her house!) and makes lots of cool things for her kids and friends. She made Peaches the cutest bow holder for Christmas and some of my favorite burp clothes when Molly was born. My husband draws the cutest pictures on notes he leaves for me and I have friends that are artists, writers, and one who sewed her guest room bedding and window treatments. And in my daily online adventures, I’ve come across a lot of crafty mamas. (Check out two of my favorites, here and here!)
So, I’ve decided that I want to get in on the action, too. One of the things on my “Ten in 2010″ list is to make something for Molly. The only problem is, is that I have to decide what to make. I’ve got a couple of ideas up my sleeve, and I’m plenty inspired by the women – and baby! – in my life. Stay tuned to see what I come up with!
And, because I know the real reason you’re here:

“Crafty Mama’s” are remarkably creative and should be envied for their abilities. Your teaching skills and personal demeanor is best being used NOW to develop your wonderfully delightful daughter!
Having a very content and well dispositioned baby takes a tremendous amount of fulltime attention. I believe there is no better way you can give of your time.
I know you are both enjoying the rewards of your efforts (now). Wait till you see how the time you are spending will continue to payoff in the future!
Thank you for all the sweet words! You made my day!!!
I cannot wait to see what you come up with for sweet Molly. Whatever you decide, I know it will be beautiful. You put your heart and soul into everything you do, and it always shows!
I am sooo not crafty! i always see things and get so jealous. I don’t even have the “eye” to know what I would even make if I could!
everything was from scratch on the sandwich?!? dang, I am amazed.
I am not crafty either but was bound and determined to make something, anything for Evie. I made her a garland like the Nester makes. It’s really cute! You can make something – you are making her a blog right now!
Ahh, craft envy; I feel you on that one! There is no doubt in my mind you will come up with something to make. You always accomplish whatever you set your mind to!
You ARE crafty and just don’t realize it!! Just think of all the fabulous and creative ideas you come up with for gifts for your friends and family, and don’t forget the wonderful parties, showers, etc that you give – all that is part of being creative and crafty, right?!! And poster Jennifer is right!! You created and keep up with this awesome blog for your little sweetheart. And speaking of Peaches, taking up a crafting hobby will take nothing away from her, in fact, it will add to both of your lives!! I can see it now, Molly sitting contentedly alongside you in her bumbo with the two of you talking away, discussing which shade of pink fabric to choose!! Just think, once you have chosen your craft, you will be teaching her about it and the two of you will continue to spend lots of time “crafting” together!!
